The Core FC is a football club currently playing in the Lancaster University B-Active League.
The team is a breakaway group of friends from Lonsdale College, Lancaster University, who decided to branch off from the officially recognised college team to further its own destiny. Core FC also beat Lonsdale College 'C' 3-1 in the first official league game of the season.
Having begun the 2007-08 season positively with this 3-1 victory the Core's form dipped slightly and then recovered towards the end of the season.

"NO ONE LIKES US..."
The Core have built a reputation for being somewhat 'robust' in the tackle, particularly in losing situations, a number of fiery characters ensure that no game is without its flashpoints. This has led to many people having a somewhat negative opinion of the club, they have been slated on various online forums before certain games. However, in an attempt to hit back and have a bit of a laugh at their own expense, The Core will lead a poster campaign before the League Cup to attempt to drum up support and cause a bit of a stir. After all, a bit of comedic PR never did anyone any harm; watch this space...
The club has a strong team spirit meaning that each player knows he has support in times of skirmish.
Despite their physical nature The Core enjoy healthy rivalries and banter with all their opponents.
