In 2007, 11th grades positions were open. Administration plans on expanding to grade 12 by the next school year. The current principal is Mark Reardon. [edit] Academics
There are currently 3 available tracks: T, W, and 5-Day. T and W students alternate between 2 studio and 3 home days. 5-Day students study 5 days a week at home, but are also able to attend studio sessions if desired. A wide-range of courses are offered, including: English Honors, History Honors, Physics, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Spanish I and II, German I, Drama, Music, and Choir. Accommodations can be made for students who wish enroll in courses independent from Classical Academy. Expansion of existing and advance placement programs have been confirmed for the next school year. Membership in National Honors Society will also be available to qualified students.
The average class size is 13 peers.
[edit] Mascot
For the first year of operation the school did not have an official mascot as well as no official colors. Prior to the second year of operation the first junior class president came up with the idea for the Caiman. It was decided at the first week of the second year that the official mascot would be the Caiman.
[edit] Associative Student Body
Dana Moen is the current adviser of the 2007-2008 ASB cabinet. ASB oversees all extracurricular school activities, including Skate Night, Broomball, Spirit Week, Movie Day, Wii Game Night, and Beach Party. Other applications, like student appreciation, are also headed by ASB.
[edit] Important Changes
For the 2008-2009 school year, The Classical Academy High School intends on changing its traditional 2 studio - 3 home day weeks to 4 day studio - 1 day weeks. This dramatic expansion has proven to be quite popular among parents and students. However, CAHS is still fully committed to the focused homeschooling-geared families, so other more academically-flexible programs will remain. In addition to the confirmed 4 studio weeks, a "blended" program will be offered to students who wish to enroll in courses at school, home, and/or local colleges. Blended track will allow families and students to pick and choose their courses in all available educational outlets.
[edit] California High School State Exit Exam Achievements
According to California educational statistics, the Classical Academy achieved one of the highest passing rates among all North County high schools.
