The Charm Beneath (胭脂水粉) is a 30 episode drama which jointly produced by TVB and an independent production company, and aired in 2005. The Mui Siu Ching-produced drama is one of the anniversary series of TVB in 2005. Gigi Lai sings the theme song of the series whereas Moses Chan sings the sub theme song.

Gigi Lai was nominated for the Best Actress award for her memorable role in The Charm Beneath, but lost to Liza Wang.

Sheren Tang and Bobby Au-Yeung were originally casted in this series instead of Gigi Lai and Moses Chan when the teaser trailer premiered in the TVB sales presentation in 2005.
