[edit] Format

The series' format was based on two earlier CBS prime-time specials, A Charlie Brown Celebration (1982) and It's an Adventure, Charlie Brown (1983). Episodes typically featured gags and storylines that were derived from the newspaper strip.

Segments from the show were released in random compilations during the mid-80s. Paramount later released the original episodes (albeit with newly-added title cards) on nine volumed VHS tapes in 1996.
