The Cambodia Project

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cambodia Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization with objectives to build and sustain academic schools and health centers in Southeast Asia beginning in Spring 2008. The Project aims to bring free education and health programs that would not otherwise be available to rural communities. Their longer term expectations include assisting such communities with their economic and sustainable development in such way that empowers them to become self-sufficient.

[edit] Mission

The Cambodia Project will implement rural village early childhood and secondary education programs in Cambodia that will address needs of students from a holistic vantage. In addition to spurring sustainable development and providing much-needed educational opportunities, the schools will also serve as a focal point for their villages, offering adult enrichment classes at night as well as community-based building activities. By encouraging local involvement at all levels, The Cambodia Project aspires to promote among community members a feeling of collective ownership and a sense of pride in their schools, and plant seeds of a grassroots movement of social activism and self-empowerment.
