The Buckley School (New York City)

The Buckley School is a K-9 all-boys' private school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. Its motto is "Honor et Veritas" (Honor and Truth) and its official seal is a shield. Above the shield is a sword handle and below it is the nib of a pen, signifying that the pen is mightier than the sword. In the top portion of the shield is the school's motto and in the central part of the shield the letters "BS" are inscribed in a circle, with rays protruding from the circle to the edge of the shield, signifying the wisdom that the school embodies. The School's colors are royal blue and white.

The School is divided into three divisions: Beginners (kindergarten) through Class III form the Lower School, Class IV through Class VI form the Middle School, and Class VII through Class IX form the Upper School. The grades are referred to as classes followed by their number (expressed in roman numerals). The school's headmaster is Mr. Gregory O'Melia and the school's assistant headmistress is Mrs. Caroline Berry.

The school generally sends half of its pupils to day school in New York such as Trinity School, Horace Mann School, Regis High School, Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School, Riverdale Country School, The Dalton School, The Collegiate School, and Browning School. The other half generally go to boarding schools such as Phillips Academy Andover, Phillips Exeter Academy, St. Paul's School (Concord, NH), The Lawrenceville School, Deerfield Academy, Choate Rosemary Hall, The Hotchkiss School, The Taft School, The Middlesex School, and The Groton School.

The Buckley School sports program is exceptional. It teaches the boys to have sportsmanship and leadership on the sports field. Students starts afternoon sports in 1st grade. Until 7th grade they play competitive games between each other. In 7th grade they join the school sports teams. The Buckley sports teams are Football, Soccer, Basketball, Wrestling, Track and Field, Lacrosse and Baseball.
