[edit] About
The Bill Robertson Library provides library and information services to the staff and students of the Dunedin College of Education and Otago Polytechnic, New Zealand. There are four branches of the library:
- Union Street East
- Tennyson Street
- Cromwell
- Southland
[edit] The Bill Robertson Library (Union Street East)
The library in Union Street East houses The Bill Robertson Library's major collections and is used mostly by staff and students from the Dunedin College of Education and Otago Polytechnic. An online catalogue is available for searching the collections.
As well as housing comprehensive collections in a wide variety of subject areas, the Union Street East Library provides many additional services for patrons.
These include:
- Comprehensive reference and research services
- National and international interloan facilities
- Individual and group study areas
- Access to a selection of indexes and databases
Staff at the Union Street East library also provide many services for out of town patrons, via the various libraries which service the other campuses, and directly to distance learning students who do not have a local campus of their own.
[edit] Tennyson Street Library
The Tennyson Street library is in room T212, upstairs from the main reception foyer of the Otago Polytechnic Tennyson Street campus.
The collections held here cover subjects taught at the Tennyson Street campus, but much of the material is of considerable general interest. The collections include:
- Hospitality Industry
- Catering
Material in the Tennyson Street library is included in The Bill Robertson Library's online catalogue so patrons may search the Union Street collections and may reserve and return items from Tennyson Street at Union Street and vice versa.
[edit] Cromwell Campus Library
The Cromwell Campus Library provides resources for Otago Polytechnic courses taught in Cromwell, Queenstown and Wanaka. It has a permanent stock of approximately 1,400 book titles, plus periodicals, videos and databases. The library's collections have been developed especially to support courses taught in Central Otago, and concentrate on:
- Tourism (hotel service and visitor service)
- Outdoor recreation (adventure tourism and mountain recreation)
- Catering
- Horticulture (certificate and diploma levels)
- Computing
- Customer service and community care (elderly and children)
The library also has full access to The Bill Robertson Library's online catalogue. This means patrons may search the Dunedin library stocks and request material from there if it is not available in Cromwell.
The Cromwell Campus Library also provides study tables, a periodical browsing area, a photocopier available for use by patrons, internet access for course-related research and the services of a trained librarian on site to help with research and reference questions.
[edit] Southland Campus Library
The Southland Campus Library provides library and information services to the staff and students of the Dunedin College of Education. The library also has full access to The Bill Robertson Library's online catalogue. This means patrons may search the Dunedin library stocks and request material from there if it is not available in Southland.
