The Angel's Game

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Angel's Game is the eagerly-awaited prequel to 2001's The Shadow of the Wind by Spanish author Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

It has been acquired by Weidenfeld & Nicolson, who will publish the English edition in late spring 2009[1]. It will be translated from the Spanish by Lucia Graves, daughter of the poet Robert Graves. The Spanish version has been published by Planeta in April 2008 [2].

The Angel's Game is set in Barcelona in the 1920s and 1930s and follows a young writer who is approached by a mysterious figure to write a book. Carlos Ruiz Zafón has revealed that the novel returns to The Cemetery of Forgotten Books - the mythical building in the heart of Barcelona's Raval district, as well as the Sempere & Sons bookshop featured in The Shadow of the Wind.

The Angel's Game promises to be a thrilling tale of lost souls and literary intrigue. Set against the backdrop of a writer struggling with his demons is a page-turning mystery and a love story, which takes place in the dark, narrow alleyways and creaking mansions of the mysterious heart of Barcelona.
