After Peter Parker finds out that a Guru will force 10 New Yorkers to commit suicide unless he receives $10 million, he suddenly gets bitten by a Radioactive Spider,and creates a costume, a webshooter, and a utility belt to help stop the crook.

The Film was not released on VHS until 1980. A "live action" television series called The Amazing Spiderman (TV Series) followed.

The Film won a Golden Raspberry for Worst Film Of The Year. Many fans were angered over the fact that Spidey's origin wasn't too faithful to the comics.[citation needed]
