Can someone help me with the basics of creating a bar coded shipping label in Crystal Reports?

[edit] Help.

Does anyone know how to create a bar coded shipping label in Crystal Reports?

```` If you absolutely need to print barcodes in C R you need to learn about the structures of Barcodes. First you would have to install a barcode font for the symbology you need(there are many types of barcode symbologies). You would then have to create static fields for the start/function codes, add your variable data, incoporate a formula for check digit, and create a static end code. If you can accomplish this much then you can easily do the page design, and layout. You would be better off exporting the data to a text file, or common ODBC data type, and using middleware software. For the PC, I like using Bartender by Seagull Scientific Systems. For AS400 environments, TL Ashford is the software of choice. The enterprise version of Bartender has sub program called Data Commander. Data Commander polls a directory for data in a configurable interval, and when the data file appears, it can push the data to bartender which prints out the label based on a pre-designed template, and then deletes the file or renames it, and keeps it as an archive. If you are intent on creating a barcoded label using crystal reports search barcode fonts, structure, and check digits. The absolute authority on compliance barcoding is the former Uniform Code Council (uc-council.org). It is now known as the GS1 (gs1.org) Joseadamflores 06:44, 30 March 2007 (UTC)joseadamflores
