[edit] In-depth listing of UK scheduling information
I've just removed the massive in-depth listing of UK scheduling information from the page, doing so has reduced the article size from 26k to 9k. While I think some information about overseas scheduling is useful, listing incredibly long detailed lists of the exact scheduling of every single ITV region across the entire UK seems like it's pushing it a bit far. It was also full of really unencyclopedic language, such as saying that a particular ITV region appeared to 'despise' the show just because they didn't show it much, and using EMPHASIS in CAPITAL LETTERS and very extreme punctuation????? Using it when it really isn't needed!!!!!! It even went into what the continuity announcements into certain episodes were like, and it feels like that if it continues to be there it'll get more and more in-depth and weigh down the whole thing, it was already bigger than the entire section about the actual programme combined, which really isn't how it should be.
However, looking at the page history it seems that a huge amount of work has gone into it all over the last year or so, and that there's several other TV show pages that have been given the same treatment. While I think they definitely should not be on Wikipedia, creating a new Wiki or website with this detail on would be a good idea, as that way the information would still be available for those who want to read it. I just don't think it's suitable for this site. BillyH 14:51, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with Billy. It is cruft. At this point the contributors only have themselves to blame because people attempted to explain this to them with the Prisoner article. I said at the time that's it's a shame to see it all go to waste, but they could donate it to a website somewhere. The Prisoner version had its own page at one point, until it was deleted via AFD. - Agree agree. The article should be about the show: original run start date, end date, description, notable cast and creative crew, cultural impact. The schedules of where and when the each episode has ever been screened after the original run, showing absolute detail of run and region, is way too much, and just engulfs the article. Imagine we added the equivalent for Get Smart, listing every rerun and partial rerun that show has had on Australian television!? Shame all that work has gone to waste, but it is of little real value. Melbn 19:47, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- A related article has been deleted via consensus achieved at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/ITV Local times OZ soaps. Could editors please note the comments that Wikipedia is not a (historic) TV guide. The JPStalk to me 20:01, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
