[edit] Have a great bay area day

I was just reading the letter from the imfamous viewer's section and while reading the "Have a Great Bay Area Day" I noticed this line: "If you don't like it here, then plesse quite, move back to 'Podunkville,' and make some room for someone who doesn't think it's funny to make fun of locals and their ideals." The line seems to be misspelled and was meant to be "then please quit," so my question is is this a mistake of the person who write the letter or is this a mistake of the article writer? kthxbi 24.6.142.202 (talk) 14:10, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I corrected the spelling error in the section about "Have a Great Bay Area Day". ViperVenm88 (talk) 19:48, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Notable guests section

I think this section needs improvement; there needs to be some kind of assertion as to why each guest is notable or this is just going to turn into a list of every celebrity guest. -WikiFew (talk) 20:15, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Agreed, except that this is the only known list of guests as transcribed from the podcasts released by the show (after 5/24/07). This means two things. On one hand, all previous guests who visited before that date (save returning guests) go unmentioned. On the other, the podcasts are published because the events that transpired while recording were notable. For example, I know for a fact that every Friday they have small time guests who are performing at local comedy clubs and they sometimes go unmentioned. If anything, the title needs to be amended. However the current title was chose because describing what I have said is too long for a title.

However, if I were to go along with your suggestion (as I am very willing to do), how might I go about describing each celebrity's notoriety? I made each name a link to present wikipedia pages where each celebrity is described. To go beyond that, the next step might be a parenthetical reference such as (comedian) or (actor). Would this be sufficient?

Thanks for the suggestion. ViperVenm88 (talk) 20:37, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

I think notable guests would be defined as anyone whose appearance on the show was notable, not necessarily the notability of the guest in the outside world. I don't think there are really any guests who were particularly noteworthy, so I would like to remove the section. -WikiFew (talk) 04:42, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

How about a compromise? I will rename the section "Celebrity Guests" as the removal of this list is not preferred. ViperVenm88 (talk) 07:17, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

I think listing it as "Celebrity guests" will just open this section to be irrelevant and non-notable. I don't see how the inclusion of this section benefits the article. -WikiFew (talk) 22:04, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Perhaps, understandably, your concept of notability and relevance has been dulled by working with such a broad medium. However, I argue that because of the show's nature as local, talk radio, the interview of celebrities, both nationally and locally known, is an integral part of the show. To illustrate this point, I went back to the show's podcast listings. Of the 414 podcasts which the show has published, 95 of those were guest interviews. Therefore, of the show's important moments that are made into podcasts, almost 23% of those are interviews. Now, the list itself benefits the article because it increases the page's credibility as an in-depth presentation at the Woody Show. Let me put it this way, I have already contacted the show itself and they are aware of the page's presence on wikipedia. They were impressed with the degree of both accuracy and depth which I have brought to the page. On the morning of May 2nd, they announced the page's presence on the air and thanked me by name for my efforts. To this day, some listeners have even been helpful in adding to the page and I have kept a close watch to ensure the page's continued credibility.

If you still disagree, consider this. Realistically, the only people who access this page are just local (Bay Area, California) listeners and fans of the show. And if they want information about its past or present, it should be here. ViperVenm88 (talk) 03:40, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
