[edit] VP candidate's home state
The article states that the GOP's VP candidate was mentioned only in passing, and that it was so "in passing" that you couldn't even determine the guy's home state...so, how does the table illustrating the electoral vote figure out that the guy was from Utah? Tomertalk 00:30, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- I asked that on the talk page of the editor who added it.. I'm gonna go ahead and delete it as I do not recall that at all. Feel free to re-add if you say where it's from. Staxringold 20:39, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bartlet did not carry North Dakota
It was said in the Season 7 episode "Election Night" that no Democrat had carried North Dakota in 40 years. Therefore, the list of states carried is not correct. - Jord 15:24, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- Or we are simply demonstrating the fallibility of extreme fandom. The writing is just not that consistent. Rlove 15:30, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
-
- Indeed, it is perhaps a stretch to spell out the states won when they were not explicitly spelled out on the air and then there is the question of continuity. I'll remove that section. - Jord 18:37, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
No, watch season four Election night, Bartlet says he carried BOTH dakotas, and both carolinas.
- Well there there is a conflict, because Season 7 says otherwise. - Jord 15:03, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps the margin of difference in ND was so small that a recount ultimately brought it back in the GOP camp? -- fdewaele -- April 13, 2006 16:08 CET
- This seems possible, like Hawaii in Nixon-Kennedy. Although the results were contested it didn't affect the overall result of the election so it didn't recieve heavy coverage. However, the list as a whole was still pretty fancrufty as much wasn't justified in episodes. Staxringold 14:20, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

It is not fancruft, watch the two election night episodes from season 4, the map they had on here earlier was accurate.
the TV maps clearly show Bartlet winning both carolinas, both dakotas, nebraska, Montana, Missouri, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Virginia, WV, all of the northeast, all of the great lakes including Indiana, and all of the west coast and great plains minus utah, wyoming and Idaho.
Bring back the map from before, sometimes writing errors happen, but Bartlet won both dakotas it was even mentioned in dialogue.
[edit] Related move request being discussed
Go to Talk:United States presidential election, 2006 to contribute to the discussion about a move request that could (IMHO should) affect this article too. 66.167.252.198 09:23, 1 May 2006 (UTC). Also Bruno Gianelli says in episode 4 episode 08 that Bartlet won both the Dakotas.
[edit] Prod
This completely unreferenced, in-universe article is completely redundant with the main series article and the individiual episode articles. How many times do we have to rearrange the plot of West Wing? (copied from the prod by me, Polonius)
- The lack of referencing is a problem, and the in-universe style is a problem. The redundancy (which is to say, the fact that the article exists at all) is not. I'd like to see it expanded to the point where it looks more like The West Wing presidential election, 2006 (which I notice you didn't prod) but as it stands it gathers together in one place information about a major storyline which ran for a season and a half and which is a legitimate potential topic of interest. If you don't agree with me, AfD it. --Polonius 01:50, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. The fact that this election wasn't as focused on, so to speak, as the 2006 one might be a bit of a handicap against this one, but like you said, it can be improved. It shouldn't just be given up on and thrown in the trash. I've tried to improve it where I can, but I don't own the season 3 or 4 DVDs, so hopefully others can come in and help pick this article up.--Highway99 03:00, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
I would have prodded the other article, were I aware it existed. That said, I wasn't aware that this article hadquite the history it does. Perhaps it could be reformed, along with some episode articles, into a single season article? - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 05:57, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
