Talk:The Vulcan Dub Squad

This page should not be deleted because it's an important asset to Canada's music scene. This band has been together for 10 years and have stood for patriotic issues; giving nods to Terry Fox (Marathon of Hope album), Pierre Trudeau (Just Watch Us album) and most recently their new album, The New Designers, which is dedicated to the architecture and landscape of Montreal's Expo 67'. The Vulcan Dub Squad have also been funding their music entirely on their own without the help of a major label or government grants and feel their music should reach as many people as possible. Using a tool like this encyclopedia, it not only allows people to read about the history of the band, but solidifieds their legacy as one of the true great bands that slipped from the mainstream of rock n' roll. Do not delete this page PLEASE! What should be done to fix this page??
This article expands Wikipedia's assets as a reference tool without detracting from it in any way.
Deleting this accurate and relevant article would indicate a systemic bias against the independent music scene. Many independent artists have gone on to worldwide success, notably REM, Nirvana, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Husker Du, Pavement, White Stripes, Meat Puppets, Fugazi, Wedding Present, Franz Ferdinand, Death Cab For Cutie, The Arctic Monkeys, and many others.
A tag has been placed on The Vulcan Dub Squad, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. The Vulcan Dub Squad 00:36, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] conflict of interest
who has a conflict and why? what can be done to resolve these issues? thanks!
I WENT TO A VULCAN DUB SQUAD CONCERT 2002 AND IT WAS THE MOST ORIGINAL AMAZING THING I HAD HEARD IN A LONG TIME. THEY'RE FAR BETTER THAN ANYTHING ON T.V. I LIVE IN BRAMPTON AND I AM EXTREMELY PROUD OF THEM FOR COMING SO FAR. WE NEED TO SUPPORT CANADA'S MUSIC SCENE. THEY DESERVE TO BE KNOWN AND SUCESSFUL, IT IS UNNECESSARY TO DELETE THIS PAGE. THANK-YOU, NICOLE L.
