Talk:The U

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When Googling "The U" no mention of the University of Miami comes up in the first 5 pages, where I quit, while 5 references to the University of Utah and 3 to the University of Minnesota came up referring only to the institution as "The U". I've seen the MNF references but these seem to be far more of a current pop culture fad than a long history of the institution's nickname.

Isn't it likely that any University with "University" in their name likely to end up being called "The U"? I mean, it seems sort of like naming all the possible names which Jr. could be affixed to. Is this really notable? Makemi 04:07, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Yes, but in these cases the Media and communities use the nickname, sometimes without even mentioning the full name of the institution.
It is important to mention these names - I came to wikipedia, wondering which "U" the media had referred to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.33.107.84 (talk) 00:14, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Moving Article

I am either going to move this article or createa disambigious page. Here is why. The U is used in almost every state to describe that states main university. The fact that this article comes up when the U is typed is stupid. It all depends on located of where you live. Ok, i decided to just change this right now, so i am going to make a disambig the U page and move this page to The U (Miami)--Geppy 07:00, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
