Tears of a Clown Review by The McClendon Report

Amazing song...Smokey Robinson was the glue in the midst of stellar artists, singers, songwriters, and producers for Motown. The "Pagliacci the Clown" reference is genius. I still laugh and smile when I hear this song. Bouncy, funky, pop, and the Funk Brothers are a simulated orchestra.

It's too bad that the Motown Sound isn't heard in today's music.

[edit] Why is only the UK release date

Shown on the chart?? This is an American song and it was released in the US in 1967. It's silly and misleading that only the UK date (re-release date) is given on the chart. Moncrief 16:09, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bassoon

Added Trivia section about Bassoon, although cannot cite whether it is the only number one hit or only song for that matter to actually have a bassoon. Presumably, the Funk Brothers either played or contracted the part. Group29 15:05, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
