[edit] Banned?

Not to sound contradictory, but the citation refers to an attempt to remove The Diviners from a Grade 13 reading list. Curiously, the lead-in refers to three Margaret Laurence novels, one of which is The Stone Angel, there is no indication that any title was banned. James King's biography of Laurence covers the temporary removal of The Diviners, but mentions no other attempt to ban as being successful. Don't get me wrong, I think there were successful bans, but haven't been able to confirm my belief.Victoriagirl 00:35, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

I don't recall Stone Angel being banned, but at the time I studied Stone Angel and The Diviners in a University-level Canadian Lit class circa 1990, The Diviners had just been banned somewhere in Alberta, I believe. I don't think any of the bans were permanent. 23skidoo 04:49, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Elderly Abuse

I added a section on elderly abuse, as this is one of the central themes/ideas of the book, and it is coming into prominence in the last couple years, as the stories surface. Mckand 20:09, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
