I think the desciption of the Shrike to "lose a large amount of cabling likened to intestines" is an error and is a misinterpretation of the fight between it and the Nemes clone at the farcaster on Vitus-Gray-Balianus B, where the Nemes clone is the one losing the large amount of intestine like cabling.
