Talk:The Shepheardes Calender
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
it's actually spelled shepheardes calend*E*r. why modernize only one word in the title, if any? Dan Knauss
[edit] Move
- Talk:The Shepheardes Calendar — The Shepheardes Calendar → The Shepheardes Calender – The Shepheardes Calender is the correct title. The current title is a weird combination of old and modern spellings and makes no sense from the point of view of either. Chick Bowen 01:01, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- Dpknauss's comment above was already here when I requested this move, but is correct and should be taken into account. Chick Bowen 01:03, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deliberately archaic spellings?
Is this a misconception based on the modern convention of having standardized spelling? Nobody back then spelled "correctly" (as we would think), just look at the original versions of Shakespeare and the King James Bible! –Benjamin
