[edit] Ripley or Byrus?
The actual name of the "virus" is byrus, and in fact in the book people get quite passionate about correcting people who mistakenly use the term "Ripley." While I know that in the movie Ripley was the only term use, wouldn't it make more sense for the article to be redirected from Ripley to byrus, rather than how it is now? - yeah i agree it's like titling the herpes page "lumpy bumpies"
[edit] Content Resource
I have assembled a list of byrus-related information, much of which is not in this article, at this thread. All of it is book-related. If anyone wanted to incorporate any of this information, feel free to, since I don't have much time to do so. I may later, yet, however. Dinea 12:19, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for all that compiled information! I hadn't noticed that there was a page for Byrus until now, and having the information compiled on your site will be helpful (still will have to thumb the book to get cites though, but still). I thought I would point out to you for your compiled lists that it also seems that telepathy can be transmitted between close friends with an empathic bond (ka-tet) more strongly than is transmitted from being merely around them. Also, I'd assumed that the loss of teeth was not due to radiation so much as byrum pushing the teeth out as it poured out of every conceivable crevice available. Looking forward to collaborating with you on this page to flesh it out a bit more.ArchangelX777 00:16, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Mm, no problem. I'll have to agree with your first point,, but not with the second; the loss of teeth seems to take place at first exposure rather than after the byrus starts growing. For instance, most of the teeth Henry lost were when he saw Mr. Gray/Jonesy, and his infection from byrus sticking to the wound in his leg didn't show up until a couple/several hours later, I believe, and then only because he was looking for it; Deke McCaskell was another Mr. Gray case, and I think McCarthy lost his before he had anything more than the patch beneath his eye. Say, I honestly don't remember, did anybody's teeth fall out after looking at kim? Dinea 04:21, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
