Whoever posted the "unreferenced" and "not notable"... I'm sorry you've never heard of the song, but if you put "The Girl I Left Behind" in Google you'll find countless references to recordings of this song. I don't know what to narrow it down to, frankly. Wahkeenah 14:13, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Regardless of how Hollywood has portrayed it, the tune associated with Custer, which was played as his troops left for his ill-fated meeting with Sitting Bull at Little Bighorn, is called "Garry Owen."
