[edit] Tagline

What does the film's tagline mean? Maybe it would be helpful if it was mentioned in the trivia section because I think a lot of people would wonder the same thing. Freida3000 16:06, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

There are two phrases on the promotional poster - are you referring to the one about Doyle or the one about good timing? 65.96.190.159 04:54, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm referring to the one about good timing. Freida3001 02:55, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wrong Car

The article lists the car Hackman drove during the chase as a Chevrolet; it'a actually a Pontiac Tempest. Adambomb1701 05:34, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Backwards Picture

The first picture that is in the "Plot" section with Hackman eating the pizza is backwards. In the movie he is to the left of his partner, not to the right, as is shown in the picture in the Wiki article. It needs to be reversed. Zeno333 07:43, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Book Link

Why does "discussion" for "French Connection (book)" lead to this discussion page for the film? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robcat2075 (talkcontribs) 20:39, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Gene e3w1.jpg

Image:Gene e3w1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Jetty Lane 500 ?

When Popeye Doyle, dressed as Santa, asked a kid what he wanted for Christmas, he said he wanted "Jetty Lane 500". What's that ? StuRat (talk) 00:19, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

There is a Jetty Lane in Houston, Texas, and another in Warrnambool, Australia, but neither seems include 500 as the street address. StuRat (talk) 17:52, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

The kid is obviously asking for some kind of toy. I'm completely mystified as to why you'd think it would be a reference to a street address in Houston or Warrnambool. Postdlf (talk) 18:07, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Because I did a Google search and found no such toy. I was also a kid at that time in the US so would likely recall such a toy. The Google search did find those addresses, and Jetty Lane sounds a lot more like an address than a toy, anyway. It's not unusual for movie directors to insert references to things in their personal lives. StuRat (talk) 18:43, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Picking your feet in Poughkeepsie ?

Doyle several times says things like this. Is this some kind of inside joke ? StuRat (talk) 00:22, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

It's a nonsense phrase Doyle uses to throw suspects off their guard while he questions them. Every time I go to Poughkeepsie I think of it. But I still haven't picked my feet there. Postdlf (talk) 02:36, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
I see, I was thiking he had some kind of foot hygeine obsession. StuRat (talk) 17:23, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
