"Eventually it conspires that aliens were behind the memory loss, and Telly's remaining memory of her son was the result of a failure on the alien's part."

It was never explicitly mentioned that the forces behind the abductions were aliens. Couldn't they have been the work of god, the devil, or some other mystical agents? One of the least satisfying things about this movie is that the exact source of what was going on was never explained.

I have to disagree, I think it's pretty explicit that it's supposed to be aliens. The most obvious proof for me was the scene towards the end when the guy was attempting to make her forget her son and she refused. He screamed "You must forget" or something to that affect and his face changed rather strangely towards the basic image of a Grey before all the windows shattered. They never outright say aliens, but even the female detective makes the observation that Telly chose to say their children were abducted, not kidnapped. --mixvio

Also I think that if you ask people to give a definition of the word alien, both the devil and god would probably fit under it. Wiktionary defines an alien as "any life form of non-Earth origin". While I agree with mixvio, this is more a reflection than it is an argument. Bergsten 22:56, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

I wish I could forget the movie. What a great build-up only to be disappointed by the cheesy outcome.

I'm a little confused by the introduction to the article. It is clearly discussing something different from the rest of the article.

"The movie revolves around a woman who suffers from issues of gender identity. While she struggles to maintain a facade of outward femininity, she has 'forgotten' her dominant bisexual tendencies. While struggling to find out who she truly is, she must learn to face who she has become.

For her efforts in The Forgotten, Julianne Moore earned the Niort-d'Chateau award for best actress/actor as a result of her portrayal of Seymour Beaver, a struggling bisexual actress."
