I'm not sure if it's accurate to say "The movie is widely regarded as the weakest of the various film treatments of The Scarlet Pimpernel". I always say that it's the least satisfying of all the Powell and Pressburger films, but they set such a high standard. By anyone else, who didn't get measured by that very high standard, I think it'd be quite a reasonable telling of the story.

And there are so many Pimpernel films, are you sure it's really the weakest of them all? The Internet Movie Database lists at least 10 films based on the Pimpernel stories. Is this really the weakest of them all?

And there's no big musical number, Pythonesque or otherwise. I've clipped that bit. SteveCrook 02:06, May 20, 2005 (UTC)

Yes that unreferenced 'widely regarded' sounds like a very POV statement. Powell and Pressburger were great film-makers. Colin4C 12:56, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
