[edit] Band name, with or without "the"
As I understand it, the name of the band is "The Bouncing Souls", not "Bouncing Souls". The latter (without the "the") is the name of one of their albums. Their official site is a little ambiguos, including "the" sometimes, and not including it other times. For now, I'm moving this page to The Bouncing Souls, and will redirect from here to there (which is the opposite of what it is, now). If there are objections, please revert it. If you do so, please indicate where you got the information. bmearns, KSC(talk) 18:33, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- I don't object to the move per subject but per method. See Help:Moving a page to read why pages should not be moved by copy-paste. I have reverted for now. Misza13 T C 20:06, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Requested move
As best as I can tell, the name of the band is "The Bouncing Souls", and "Bouncing Souls" is the name of one of their albums. bmearns, KSC(talk) 22:25, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- Done. —Nightstallion (?) Seen this already? 07:42, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Neutrality
This article needs to be rewritten in a way that relies on facts, not what the writers consider to be common knowledge or consensus among fans, unless those can be documented with verifiable sources. — GT 07:44, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- I tired to edit it a little bit to take out the afore mentioned neutrality conflict. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Leadbelly (talk • contribs)
The following are still problematic, opinionated sentences that either need to be sourced, rewritten, or eliminated:
- They came together to play a brand of punk that was exuberant and fun.
- They were known for their energetic live shows, but the songs themselves didn't translate well on wax.
- Soon, they had whittled it down to their own brand of punk, and become one of the most popular bands in the punk scene.
- While it contains some Bouncing Souls classics like "Cracked," "Kate is Great," and "East Coast! Fuck You!," it is generally known as the lowest point in their discography. (the unsourced quote after that line does not support the notion that most fans consider this their worst album)
- Hopeless Romantic followed in 1999. The album is the first to boast what is considered as their signiture style, mixing punk and poignant lyrics.
- He was replaced by former Skinnerbox and Murphy's Law drummer, Michael McDermott. He's acknowledged as the more talented and more technically proficient of the two drummers.
- Their next album How I Spent My Summer Vacation was hailed by many fans as their best to date.
- By now, the band had evolved into one of the most beloved and respected bands in the punk rock scene.
In addition this article contains almost no sources. Sources (and in general, sticking to facts or things we can clearly document) help us know whether something is legitimate or whether somebody is making something up. See Verifiability, No original research, Neutral point of view. — GT 00:41, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] "Joe Lies (When He Cries)" used in "Say Anything"
Does anyone remember the part in Say Anything when the character Corey Flood (Lili Taylor)is at the party and sings the words "Joe Lies! Joe lies! Joe lies! When he cries!"? Does anyone remember that? I think they stole that from the Bouncing Souls song "Joe Lies (When He Cries)", even though in the movie she supposedly wrote all the songs herself. I love that movie.
- It was obviously the other way around genius. You have made everyone dumber from just reading your comment.
