Do you really think the song was written about a jacobite's comrade? I don't think this song has undertones of homosexuality--172.141.155.246 20:28, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't think you're interpreting it correctly- "But me and my true love will never meet again" doesn't necessarily refer to the jacobite's comrade; it refers to the speaker's true love. Mmoople 22:54, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't know if it's officially supposed to be based on this, but Rod Stewart's Rhythm of My Heart really sounds to me like it's based on this song. I'm just going by ear on this, though, so I don't really want to add that reference to the article. Jon the Geek (talk) 04:06, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
