King's Bounty: The Legend is a 2008 video game, based on the King's Bounty property that was developed 18 years earlier by New World Computing.

The game has been released to European territories. North American publishing is scheduled for the 2008 holiday season.

The game has the player take the role of a hero once again, with gameplay mechanics similar to the original, but with much improvement in graphics and extension of options. Features include:

  • Three Playable Classes:
    • Knight: Might oriented, good in combat.
    • Paladin: In between Might and Magic.
    • Mage: Magic specialized hero.
  • Six Factions:
    • Humans
    • Elves
    • Dwarves
    • Orcs
    • Demons
    • Undead
    • Also included are various Neutrals, Including Dragons and Wolves.
  • Roughly 40 hours of play time of the campaign, if the player takes time to explore all maps.
  • A wide range of spells and creature abilities.
  • The option to get married and to divorce.
  • Four specially summoned "Spirits of Rage": Powerful monsters with special attacks.
    • Spirit of Swamp: A large lizardlike creature.
    • Spirit of Stone: A stony creature that can become various weapons.
    • Spirit of Death: A creature like the Grim Reaper.
    • Spirit of Frost: A regal frost lady sitting on a throne of ice.

In 2007 the Russian game publisher 1C Company purchased the property rights to the King's Bounty franchise and attached the name to a new title being developed by Katauri.[1] Previously this game's working title was Battle Lord. The Russian version of the game was released on 25 April 2008.

The game was praised by both critics and players who noted the gameplay was extremely engrossing, and the game atmosphere very neat.[citation needed]
