Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the album in any way;
- Copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the sleeve artwork on another record;
- The image on the cover is significant because it was made by a famous artist, The Beatles;
- This album was infamous for the controversy caused by this, its original "butcher cover". This image is needed to illustrate the image to which people were reacting, as discussed in the article;
