[edit] Fair use for The Wire (TV series)

This image, TheWire07.jpg, is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I (Opark 77) feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. it is a promotional screenshot from a television series;
  2. it does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the DVD of the show in any way;
  3. copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the program because it is low resolution;
  4. the image is accompanied by a description of the slang phrase pictured and critical commentary about the role of this sort of device on the show.
  5. the image is significant because it identifies a real-life Baltimore location and graffitti illustrating a commonly used play on words (though the graffiti has since been painted over [1], hence new free images of it cannot be made).
