"Dante and Randal and Jay and Silent Bob and a Bunch of New Characters and Lando, Take Part in a Whole Bunch of Movie Parodies Including But Not Exclusive To, The Bad News Bears, The Last Starfighter, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Plus a High School Reunion" is the fifth episode of Clerks: The Animated Series. It first aired on December 14, 2002 by Comedy Central after they acquired the series.

[edit] Plot summary

After attending his high school reunion, Dante feels that he is unappreciated by his former baseball teammates. Meanwhile, Randal reunites with his now lesbian former girlfriends and becomes addicted to an old arcade game "Pharaoh", which he finds in the janitor's closet. After a drunken night together, Leonardo gives Dante the chance to coach his Little League team, which is made up of a bunch of loser kids. Meanwhile, Randal finally beats the "Pharaoh" high score and is apprehended by government agents. While Dante's team continues to lose games, Randal is living the game of "Pharaoh" as he is forced to build pyramids. Jay, who is technically still in fourth grade, joins Dante's team and leads them to victory. The team finally enters the state championship, only to find that the other team has been captured by an evil cult and forced to work in a slave mine up the side of a mountain. Dante, Jay, Silent Bob and the rest of the team force themselves in, rescue the other team, along with Randal, who happens to be slaving in the same mine, and blow up the cave and return to town. The episode ends with Dante's team winning against the brutally malnourished and unhealthy former slaves.

  • During the awards ceremony at the reunion, the pictures on the wall behind the stage are caricatures of the staff.[1]
  • The Kid in the Helmet makes his first appearance in this episode. Briefly mentioned in the series' 2nd episode, he was seen in live action form, but cut out of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
  • Junior Little League could get around trademark laws due to 'junior' being in the title. The Little League title is trademarked.[1]

[edit] Running jokes

  • Dante and the team climb up what appears to be a cliff's face, but a potted plant that falls horizontally across the screen reveals that the camera is sideways and they are actually just walking across a flat surface. This leads to the question of why they are walking like that. This is a reference to episodes one and two.
