Thaumastus

Thaumastus was the name of an early bishop of Mainz. See also Theonistus.

Thaumastus I (?) (also called Thaumaste I (?)) (born c. 400)^{[citation needed]} was a friend of Sidonius Apollinaris, and brother of the elder Apollinaris, his father, born say 405^{[citation needed]} , who was the Prefect of Gaul under Valentinian III between 425 and 455^{[citation needed]} and both sons of another Apollinaris, Praetorian Prefect of Gaul before 409^{[citation needed]} and a friend of his successor Decimus Rusticus. He was associated with Tonantius Ferreolus in the impeachment of Arvandus^{[citation needed]} . He was the father of Eulalia (?), born ca 425,^{[citation needed]} married before 450 to Flavius Probus, Roman Senator.

He seems to be a descendant of another Apollinaris, Prefect of Gaul under Constantine II between 337 and 340.^{[citation needed]}
