Thames Valley Cricket League

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Thames Valley Cricket League is a recreational cricket league covering the counties of Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire in the Thames Valley area of Southern England. It plays a key part in the ECB Premier League pyramid with promotion/relegation with Division 2 (West) of the Home Counties Premier Cricket League. The league is currently sponsored by the Morrant group.

The league will be celebrating its 35th league season next year and this year was the league's 25th year under the leadership of evergreen Chairman Neil Doody of Finchampstead. The league initially consisted of 14 clubs but this has since expanded to 51, after the joining of some 30 clubs from the old Morrant Three Counties and Lee 75 cricket leagues. The league is expanding with over a dozen new clubs looking to join in 2008.

There are currently 15 divisions of teams competing in usually 18 100 over fixtures a season on a home and away basis with matches in the top three divisions being overseen by a panel of experienced umpires.
