History

After briefly retiring from active wrestling in 1998 after back surgery, Shawn Michaels opened the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy in 1999 with Paul Diamond, Rudy Boy Gonzalez, and Jose Lotherio.[1] They also started a wrestling promotion to go along with the school called the Texas Wrestling Alliance (TWA).[1]

In 2001 in San Antonio, Texas, Shawn Michaels was found passed out from dehydration at a TWA show.[1] A few months later, Rudy Gonzalez became the sole operator of the company.[1]
