A coming-of-age adventure about two brothers (Matt Dillon and Jim Metzler) struggling to make it on their own when their mother dies and their father leaves them.

In the view through the rear window into the pickup truck after picking up the hitchhiker, Tex shoves the gearshift of the truck all the way up (into "Park"), after he apparently goes back onto the road. In the next scene, with the view on Tex, the gearshift isn't visible, as it would if it had been left in "Park".
