I'd like to add more about the scope of this project. A few notes for expansion.
Textile arts also encompass:
- Chemistry - synthetic fibers, aniline dye
- Technology - punch cards developed for the jacquard loom remained in use in modern computers until the 1970s.
- Ethnohistory - Navajo rug, Palestinian costumes, Textiles of Oaxaca, etc.
- Third world development - textiles are among the earliest industries a country develops when it transitions from an agricultural economy to a manufacturing economy
