Talk:Teva Sport Sandals

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've always heard that the word 'teva' came from Teva Neot, Israel, where the famous Neot shoes are made, but I can't find any sources, maybe somebody knows of one if it's true? 'Teva' is also a romanization of the Hebrew word for 'nature.' If anybody able to verify these, maybe you could include them? RudyB 22:37, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

According to the Teva website, it is based on the Hebrew word for nature.—WAvegetarian(talk) 02:21, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

I have been an wearer of durable flip flops for years. Over 20 years ago, I used to buy sandals from a company called California Pacific in Southern California. I got to know the people pretty well as their sandals weren't well distributed but were of very high quality. Around that time they go into making sandals for river guides.

Some time later, they branded their sandals Teva. The next time I saw them a year or so later, the Teva name was gone. They had indicated that one of thier salesman had stolen their designs and started manufacturing the sandals on his own. I believe this was the founder of Teva as most people know it. As I don't believe California Pacific had protected its IP, there had been some litigation which had not been in California Pacific's favor and the salesman prevailed in keeping the line.
