From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tetri Giorgi (“White George”) is one of the names of Saint George, in the eastern mountainous part of Georgia. Many ethnographers claim the name to be a successor of a pagan moon deity and popular mythological warrior Giorgi later identified with St George, patron saint of Georgia.

Tetri Giorgi was the central image on a previous coat of arms of Georgia (1918-1921,1990-2004 and since 2004).
