Terumo Corporation (テルモ株式会社 Terumo Kabushiki-gaisha?) was founded in 1921 by Dr. Shibasaburo Kitasato. The company's first product was thermometers and it has since expanded into one of Asia's largest medical devices manufacturer, producing a wide variety of products ranging from medical disposables, cardiovascular systems and diabetes care products.

In 1971, Terumo opened its first overseas office in the United States, marking its first overseas expansion. Since then, the company has established subsidiaries in Europe, China, India, Philippines and Thailand. With increasing competition in the medical disposables and blood bags market, the company has expanded its product range to include coronary stent and catheters as well as acquired cardiovascular specialty companies like Vascutek and Microvention in 2002 and 2006 respectively.

Terumo is one of the leading suppliers of medical disposable products, blood transfusion products, hospital electronic products and pharmaceuticals like intravenous solutions. Terumo Penpol, the company's subsidiary in India is the largest manufacturer of blood bags in India and supplies it to over 25 countries. Production of medical disposables is also conducted in the company's facilities in Thailand and Hangzhou, China.
