Terrell Lee "Terry" Hoage (born April 11, 1962 in Ames, Iowa) is a former football defensive back for the University of Georgia from 1980 – 1983 and several National Football League teams. He was a two time consensus All-American and graduated from Georgia in 1985 with a B.S. in Genetics with a 3.85 GPA. Georgia head coach Vince Dooley called Hoage "the best defensive player I've ever coached and maybe the best one I've ever seen."[1] He finished 5th in the voting for the Heisman Trophy in 1983.[2]

Hoage was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 1984 NFL Draft. [3] His NFL career spanned 13 seasons and six teams: the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Houston Oilers, San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals. His professional football career ended in 1996.

In 2002, Hoage and his wife, Jennifer, purchased a 26-acre vineyard in Paso Robles, California, where they now live. The vineyard is operated as Terry Hoage Vineyards and produces a syrah and a grenache-syrah blend.[4] Hoage produces roughly 2,000 cases a year of wines such as The Hedge a Syrah, The Hedge referring to a pruning technique and a fabled feature of the stadium at Georgia.
