Terry Fox Theatre
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Terry Fox Theatre is a proscenium theatre in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, opened in 1999. Although attached to Terry Fox Secondary School, the theatre is operated as a stand-alone facility by the Terry Fox Theatre Advisory Group (TAG), a registered federal charity governed by a volunteer board of directors, in addition to being used as a classroom space by the school. Both the theatre and school were named for humanitarian Terry Fox, who was raised in Port Coquitlam.
[edit] Overview
The theatre has 336 seats, with 234 seats on the orchestra level, and another 102 seats on the balcony.[1]
In 2007, a dispute began over a recent move by the school board to severely restrict use of the theatre in favour of rental revenue.
In late February of 2008, Theatre restrictions have lifted to a point where students from Terry Fox Secondary may use it to an extent. Theatre Meetings are still being held for further restrictions to be lifted.[2]
