Teris is an icelandic software company focusing on servicing the financial sector. Originally founded as Tölvumiðstöð sparisjóðanna (The Saving Funds computer centre) it changed its name on March 23, 2007 to reflect changes in clientele and ownership.

Its headquarters are in Kópavogur and currently has 108 staff members, having doubled in size in the last 2 years.

[edit] History

Founded in 1989 by the six largest savings banks in Iceland and Icebank as Tölvumiðstöð sparisjóðanna (TS) it was to provide computer services to its owners, the other savings banks joined later. Until 2002 TS was in effect the computer department of all the saving banks, handling every aspect from user assistance to writing software for them. In 2002 it started to offer its services outside its group of owners and in 2007 the board decided that it would now become a for-profit unit for the first time. A name change accompanied that decision.

[edit] Services

Teris offers its services not only as a dedicated computer department, but also sells software to several financial institutions and companies in Iceland, The Faroe Islands and Norway. In 2007 it signed a contract to use SAS System for many of its solutions.
