[edit] Macero Category?

I'm thinking of starting a category for albums produced by Macero. Any comments?

KConWiki 02:29, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree. Should it be specifically "albums produced by" or just other entries associated with Macero? (like the Miles Davis category)

ANW 04:23, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

OK - I'll start work on that (and one for Orrion Keepnews as well) later today. KConWiki 17:55, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Great. ANW 05:21, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] External link

I'd like to add a video interview with Teo Macero to external links. He is speaking about his background. Here is the interview. Ammosh11 19:27, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

I think this is a valid reference. Informative footage from a non-profit educational source. I went ahead and added it to the external links section. ANW 05:22, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you. I appreciate it. Ammosh11 20:59, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Album cover removal

There is a certain irony in Gyrofrog's removal of the Explorations album cover art. That cover art belongs to a Spanish reissue of the album, released there because Spain's copyright laws allow the record to be commercially released without any approval from, or payment to, the original artists, producer, or US record company (including Mr. Macero, the subject of this article). While we Wikipedians are rightfully vigilant about fair use and other copyright violations, it's ironic that in this case we're dealing with something that ethically, if not legally, flies in the face of those very same protections. [edit] Rolling Stone List

I re-added the Rolling Stone 500 Albums rank. I disagree that it's not relevant to this article. It's a very relevant detail since Kind Of Blue is the top-ranked (at #12, no less) jazz album on a list which predominantly profiles pop/rock albums. This exemplifies the work Macero and Davis did to change jazz and bring the music to a new audience. And Macero was instrumental in creating that crossover. ANW (talk) 09:10, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
