Tent dress
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tent dress is a dress that hangs lose from shoulder to below the hips, and does not have a waistline.[1] They are worn without belts of elastic so that the dress will hang without a waistline. It was one of the trends in 2007.[2] It does not have waistline nor belt around waist, so the dress is not narrow at waist. They are sold in most department stores or clothes carrying supermarkets (Target, Walmart) and can also be home-made/tailor-made out of many different fabrics and prints.
[edit] Dress design
The tent dresses normally solid, striped, polka dotted, or floral (sometimes even a combination of prints), and are often in bright colors which are not normally matched together (i.e. orange, purple, and neon green). They vary in sleeve length and dress length and can be greatly altered with fringe, lace, buttons(particularly large ones), and even embellishment with large fake jewels or sequins and glitter. They are usually long sleeved, fluffy sleeved, or sleeveless. They are often worn with skinny jeans or leggings underneath, as many tent dresses are made short enough to where the crotch or underwear can be seen. They are normally worn as mini dresses but can sometimes be long, or short as to worn as a shirt.
