This page is very limited in describing the state after the war. It is mostly about anti-Republican politics, but doesn't tell much about the reality of state population, or what was happening in the state - demographics, or what agriculture or other economic factors figured into people's fears and anxieties. I recommend that Reconstruction be taken out of the Civil War and established separately. There were many significant legislative actions that support its standing alone.

[edit] Union Army Occupation

Walter Durham and other historians have studied what happened to Middle TN under occupation, and that deserves space here. More than battles took place in TN. The longer military occupation and the war went on, the more there was depletion of community resources, as well as breakdown in the social and economic structure, due to the nature of occupation itself and the army's need to live off local resources. These, of course, contributed to postwar difficulties and privation during Reconstruction. --Parkwells 17:10, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
