Template talk:Template doc page transcluded

[edit] Other transclusion
This template does not generate the right links if a /doc page using it is transcluded into articles/pages other than the parent of the /doc. For instance the original docs for {{WikiProject Ships}} were in the project space, and I wanted to replace that by transcluding the new /doc page. The same template also had the docs transcluded onto its Talk page from the project space. In both cases transcluding the /doc resulted in this template generating redlinks. To workaround, in the former I did a redirect and the latter a link to, but tranclusion would be preferred in both cases. It occurs to me this could also be a problem if multiple related templates share a /doc page (or maybe not).
I don't know enough about the "Magic Words" to fix this template myself, or even if it can be fixed easily. Hopefully this is on the watch list of some template uber-editor who will fix it in 5 seconds. --J Clear 18:13, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- You can use the parameter pagename to handle this, like I did here for WP:ALBUM#Infobox. --PEJL 13:43, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Another take: IMHO, the easiest "fix" is to subst the template, then hand edit the pages. See {{indent family usage}} for an example and {{catlst/doc}}for another variation. Note the latter is common to an entire {{tl|catlist} based template family, and usage is customized to each page [should you want to get fancy with such common usage pages, it's a good example.] // FrankB 20:26, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] links to sandbox and testcase
Why links to sandbox and testcase are shown only if both of them exists?
Why, if one of them exist, the link to it is not shown? -- AnyFile 08:05, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- Why, why, why... that hints at a reason and reasons exist with coherent plans. Now let's see, Wikipedia and coherent planning in the same sentence... <snide mode="OFF"/> This behavior probably came from {{template doc page}}, {{Template doc page transcluded}} and {{Template doc page viewed directly}} maybe history or talk over there has a clue. [edit] Merge into Template:Documentation subpage
This template is part of the {{Template doc}} template set. The merge proposal was discussed and decided here. – Conrad T. Pino 06:37, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
