[edit] Revert
I want to revert some of the changes that have been made- namely to the 24 June version. First, in the column format, it's rather confusing to read. Granted, it was long before, but now it's hard to follow. Also, the bolding is now gone that showed who was new at each lineup change. Also there was a question of Terry Week's position in the lineups- this was to keep the names in the same consistent position. With the changes, you now see that his name moves back and forth, and for easier following by the reader, it ought to remain in the same spot (e.g. first or second). Since he replaced Ali that would make him lead, which is the name at the top (don't go by who sings leads on the older material, as this is often bounced around- Richard led about half while he was in the group, including many of the former Ruffin songs). 130.101.20.160 19:36, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- I just noticed that the graph is changed, and that's another point- it now shows Terry as lead for a year, then switched, and without some kind of citation that demonstrates an official switch by Otis, I don't believe one should be assumed. Besides, everything I've seen with both Theo and Terry had Theo singing lead on the old songs, anyway. From the best I can tell, leads on the old Ruffin songs was split between Richard Street and the lead (Dennis, Louis, or Ali), then when Richard left Ali did everything, and then when Ali was out, Theo led all of them and everyone after him has. New recordings always have been fairly even between lead, second lead, and falsetto. 130.101.20.160 19:54, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- This is the same anon; there's been no discussion last week so I'm going ahead with the revert. 130.101.20.143 16:44, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Barrington Henderson and G.C. Cameron were always identified in the press as the "lead singers" of the Temptations during their tenures i nthe group. As far as Weeks replacing Woodson, this is true; however, David Ruffin replaced Al Bryant, so who replaced who doesn't always reflect what position they filled in the group. A Google search for "'Bruce Williamson' 'lead singer' 'Temptations' identifies him as lead singer in several reputable news reports and articles, such as this one for example. Similar Google searches for Henderson, and Cameron (who was the lead singer of THe Spinners and a solo artist in his own right) reflect the same. --FuriousFreddy 00:58, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- So does Richard Street's website: http://www.richard-street.net/... so he was lead and Dennis wasn't? They all say that. 69.221.166.236 03:56, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
