Talk:Telephone company

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Couldn't we move this to telephone company? We had a rule wherein if the British or American term was inexplicable in the other dialect, we would by preference use one that was understandable in both. I suggest that "telco" is less understandable than telephone company. Rmhermen 23:39, Apr 21, 2004 (UTC)

Is anyone opposed to a move to telephone company? Is "telco" more than slang? Where is it used? Rmhermen 12:39, Jun 19, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Makes sense

A move to "telephone company" makes sense, although "telco" is very common jargon (in telco circles...)

Common in telco circles in which country, though? Rmhermen 23:58, Jun 20, 2004 (UTC)
In the US. Yaron 12:26, Jun 21, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Add To The List

I believe that there are a few phone companies that should be added to the list. For example MetroPCS, a phone company based in central and south Florida, northern and south California, Georgia, Michigan, and Texas. Also I believe that AT&T should also be added, a company at which Cingular and Bellsouth combined. I don't want to, and can't do it because I may screw everything up so someone with experience please reply! R3445v (talk) 02:28, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] How do I find out the carrier on my landline phone?

Years ago when we were trying to fight being "Slammed," I knew that there was a number to dial that would tell you your phone carrier. Now that we are switching of our own free will, I would like to know when the change occures. Could somebody advise me if there is a universal number to determine the carrier? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.85.131.139 (talk) 15:07, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
