[edit] Strange stockholder numbers

Strangely, the Telenor Website has a section called "About" on the company that has another section under "Stock" called "The largest 20 staockholders" and lists "Telenor ASA" as having less than .8%! what is going on?! "Norweigian government" has more than 53%! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.166.191.41 (talk) 00:36, June 24, 2006 (UTC)

Telenor ASA owns some of its own stock. Its normal. They use it for bonus plans for its employees. ZorroIII 09:21, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article lacks criticism

Shouldn't there be somthing about critisism of the company? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.134.32.224 (talk) 10:58, August 29, 2006 (UTC

Yes, of course. But there just isn't an article about critisism on their website, and there isn't much domestic critisism about Telenor, maybe with the exception of long waiting time on their call centre. But feel free to add critisism paragraph if anyone knows about anything fishy. Arsenikk 14:13, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Well, a couple of weeks ago, they left Norway Internet eXchange (NIX), whose goal is to promote network neutrality. They've already started blocking popular websites in Norway, such as Finn.no, and Aftenposten.no, both owned by the media company Schibsted. Telenor will continue to block these sites until Schibsted pays Telenor for access to their customers.

[edit] USD

I changed the income from NOK to USD, this is afterall an international company. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.108.230.213 (talk) 23:55, January 6, 2007 (UTC)

Please refrain from such conversions in the future. Telenor is a Norwegian registered allmennaksjeselskap headquartered in Bærum, Norway that reports its books in Norwegian krone, not United States dollars. Also, the USD dollar is no more an "international currency" than NOK, though many Americans seem to believe otherwise. It is policy on Wikipedia to only quote native currencies. [edit] Changes

I changed and corrected the name of the president, and added some facts about Telenor's current strategy. I wonder about the COMSAT satellitte communications deal with Lockheed, I've never heard of it and doubt that Telenor owns this company (I should know, since I'm vice president of Telenor...). 83.109.107.214 (talk) 15:40, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Founding date

The founding date stated in the article is that of the former state-controlled Televerket and does not apply to Telenor. Telenor was founded in 2000: http://w2.brreg.no/enhet/sok/detalj.jsp?orgnr=982463718 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.88.248.43 (talk) 16:00, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

The date refered to in the link provided is the date that Telenor was converted from an aksjeselskap (AS) to an allmennaksjeselskap (ASA). This was done at the time the company was privatized in 2000. However, the entity has existed continuously since 1855, fist called Telegrafverket, then called Televerket, and since 1994 called Telenor. At the same time in 1994 it was converted from a government agency to a limited company. Because of the nature of the continuum of operations, it is natural to state 1855 as the year of establishment. Arsenikk (talk) 20:37, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
