Isn't this an advertisement?

In my experience, these people keep spamming my inbox almost daily. It's either spam or scam. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.62.51.84 (talk) 19:18, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
I think it is definitely spam, and they use various strategies to avoid blacklisting. I'll edit the page accordingly, of course not as POV as the present opinion for the talk page83.79.106.110 (talk) 18:47, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Definitely NOT a scam

I am a very satisfied subscriber to Technology Transfer Tactics, and have been since they launched last year -- May I think. The only comments I see on the publication relate to their marketing practices and even speculate the company may be involved in some sort of "scam."

I can assure everyone that is definitely not the case. This publication is extremely helpful to professionals in the field of technology transfer, like myself, and is highly respected for its practical coverage of our challenges in getting more research from our labs commercialized. It is very much a "how-to" type publication, with interviews of experts and colleagues in tech transfer offices throughout the country, and internationally.

Yes, they do use e-mail to market the product, but they don't try to hide who they are, and they always give a prominent unsubscribe option -- everything they do seems well within the bounds of common practice. I think it would be more useful to focus on the helpful content the newsletter provides, rather than sniping about their marketing practices. People in a small field like this have to get subscribers to survive, so they need to reach out to the small group of professionals in the tech transfer field. That's just the reality. What's important is that they are providing a valuable service, and the editorial content is right on the mark. Many of my colleagues in other offices also subscribe, and we love their approach -- real-world solutions and ideas that help us do our jobs better.

The company also does audioconferences on specific tech transfer topics about once a month. Here's a like to their website for anyone who wants to learn more. Hopefully future comments will focus on the product rather than the marketing. [1]--Mctrouble (talk) 19:52, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

I have reverted first-person remarks in the article to an earlier version without the scam/spam charge. Please maintain a neutral POV and reliably source any positive or negative claims concerning the subject. -- Michael Devore (talk) 22:03, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
