The company was founded in 1922 from the lighterage department of The London Cologne Steam Ship Company as The General Lighterage Company.[1]
In 1950 it was first listed on the London Stock Exchange.[1]
In 1957 it was renamed Transport Development Group and in 2000 TDG plc.[1]
